Chapter 16. There’s Something You Aren’t Telling Me
Caroline's POV
Today marked another day to meet Jackson as agreed, and I stood in front of the mirror. I could hear my heart pounding inside its rib cage. I knew this was the norm and I must meet with him every so often. However, I kept remembering our last encounter which still brought a fluttering feeling.
Swallowing dryly, I walked out of the door and went to his room. I knocked on his door and he invited me in. My gaze darted around and unlike before, he was already bathed and dressed. He sat on the bed waiting for me and I raised a brow as I walked towards him.
"What is that in your hand?" I asked, looking at the book he held.
"Nothing, I was reading this when you came." He replied, dropping the book on the table, then he tapped an space close to him on the bed for me.
