Sophia's POV

Derick's anger hadn't cooled by the time he turned to face me fully, the dagger still gripped in his hand. "You're fired! And I don't ever want to set my eyes on you again. Now leave this company!"

"What! Come on, after what happened to our pack, you're just going to let her leave just like that? If you will, then I am sorry I can't," Mia said, moving toward me as though she meant to finish what the dagger had started.

"Not here, Mia," Derick said, stopping her with a single look.

I tried to speak, to defend myself, to say anything that might undo the last five minutes, but Mia cut me off before I could get a word out, insisting I had nothing left to say and had better leave while I still could.
