“No, I’m not. I’m fine.”
They walked hand in hand to the car, slowly. Not in a hurry. It was as if the night belonged only to them.
Arriving in front of the house, Elena looked at Nathan. “Thank you.” A gentle smile touched her lips.
Nathan returned her gaze. “You’re welcome, Elena.”
They only looked at each other for a few seconds before Elena opened the door, but Nathan gently pulled her hand back.
“Elena...”
“Hmm?” She looked up at him.
“Don’t be long.”
Elena just smiled.
Then she walked into the house, leaving Nathan in the doorway with a quiet heart.
Elena had just changed her clothes, still with a faint smile after such a warm dinner with Nathan. Tamara had gone home, and the children were fast asleep in their rooms. The house was so quiet, only the ticking of the wall clock could be heard.
