Isabella glared up at him, defiant—but eventually relented, allowing herself to be dragged away by her husband, out of the spotlight.
The silence lingered.
Nathan turned gently to Elena. “Are you alright?”
Elena nodded slowly. “I’m fine, Nathan.”
Mrs. Sonia stepped forward, placing a comforting hand on Elena’s shoulder. “Your ex-husband truly has no shame.”
Elena let out a quiet, bitter laugh. “No. If his son hadn’t died… he wouldn’t have even thought of asking for forgiveness.”
