It hurt her more than she thought it would.
She concluded that it was better not to involve Cage and try to solve the problem on her own instead.
What she didn't understand was why Lucas would go to such lengths just to have her. She was aware that he had feelings for her back then during their college years but she thought he had let go of all that. She didn't know that he would turn out to be an obsessive beast. She desperately needed a way out of the problem she had found herself in.
Cage had come out from his room only to meet the cleaner standing beside the couch with his phone in her hand. With furrowed brows, he yanked it from her hand and examined it thoroughly.
“Why are you holding my phone?” He asked.
“Oh, well someone called and I thought I would inform the person that you weren't available at the moment.” She answered innocently.
