There are so many emotions coming through in his voice that I’m struggling to react. I remain silent after he finishes his plea. Slowly, I place my hand on the back of his head. I can feel him tense up with my contact, but he doesn’t fight as I gently run the tips of my fingers against his scalp. I wait for his reaction to my contact to calm down before I make my next move.
