Chapter 16

“I must say I have the best team working with me, and I am proud to have you all with me. I know we can push this company forward beyond its peak,” Tristan said and sat down, his eyes drifting toward Jolene after the toast.

The rest of the table cheered, clinking their glasses and then their forks as they smiled at him. Jolene smiled, watching everyone and pleased. The company had won a huge multimillion-dollar contract, and Tristan had decided to treat everyone to a celebratory dinner.

Mark glanced between Tristan and Jolene, pursing his lips as he observed the two. He could tell Tristan liked Jolene, but he couldn’t guess if Jolene felt the same way about him. The woman was quite good at hiding her emotions. He doubted they were together. After all, they all knew who his fiancée was, and he had heard a lot of Tristan to know he detested office drama.

The dinner ended, and the employees all trooped out in twos and threes in the direction of their respective homes.
