In the park, a toddler boy of about two years old stared fixedly at a couple taking wedding photos not far away, his eyes unblinking.
“Bernie, sweetheart, what are you looking at?” A gentle girl, as soft as water, approached and hugged the adorable little boy.
“Mom, what are they doing? Auntie’s dress is so pretty.” Kaytly followed her son’s finger to look in the distance, a look of admiration on her face.
“That auntie is going to be a bride, and they want to get married.”
“Mom, what’s getting married?”
“Uh huh, getting married means that the uncle and auntie want to live together in one place.”
“So, like you and me?”
“No, not like that. Mom and Bernie can’t get married. Marriage is for two people who love each other and want to live together.”
Kaytly felt a headache coming on. Her son was a bit more mature than usual, growing up faster, and he had a lot of questions all day long.
