Chapter 48

Xavia returned to her hostel and sat in the darkness, letting her tears flow freely. Edward’s cold and hurtful words echoed in her mind, causing her heart to ache. She couldn’t understand why she was still drawn to him despite everything. She felt torn between wanting to ignore him and being unable to resist his presence.

“Why am I like this? Why am I so weak when it comes to him?” Xavia questioned herself.

She feared that she would lose her identity and sense of self if she allowed herself to get too involved with Edward. She didn’t want to play this emotional game, but she also couldn’t help the feelings that stirred within her.

In the empty and silent night, no one answered her questions. After sitting for a long time, the first rays of morning light started to seep through the window. Exhausted and emotionally drained, Xavia eventually fell asleep on the recliner, still lost in her thoughts.
