Eve

“Did you think becoming friends with her would make me give you extra cash?” Jason yelled angrily and I could feel my eyes watering.

Did he really think of me that way? As a money grubber?

“I…” I tried to form words but there was a lump in my throat and I couldn’t talk.

“Look at me when I’m talking to you.” He snapped at me.

“Eve, I asked you to do one thing and you just go around playing like a five year old, do you want my mother to find out that all this is fake?”

“What exactly is your problem?” He yelled again.

“Your mom showed up here, I didn’t go to meet her and was I supposed to ignore her or say I wouldn’t go with her when she offered to go out with me?” I said suddenly finding courage as tears spilled down my face.

“Why didn’t you call me?” He asked in his normal voice now.

“I…” I mumbled. Why didn’t I call him? I didn’t know why I didn’t call him or maybe I just didn’t want to.

“Exactly, you don’t know.
