Chapter 63. Shadows of a Flame
The crackling of the flames in the middle filled Ansel’s head as he watched the last newly-assigned Beta, one of the six Betas he trusted the most, strode inside the Alpha’s war tent.
There’s no war. Perhaps not yet. But being in this tent calm the shit out of him, especially with what he just witnessed this morning.
With the deep orange shades of sunset now turning to utter onyx-blue, Ansel frowned at how come the night came so fast. How their pack was now again drenched in darkness, that even their over one thousand torches all around their pack’s territory alight with undimming flames from the fire magic of their ancestors seemed to be a joke.
“Alain visited Sasha.” Ansel doesn’t need to glance at his side to confirm it was Giro’s talented eyes and sharp ears that allowed him to gather this ‘vital’ information.
“Visited?” Ansel clicked his tongue. “Alain is always good in the business of fucking our problems.”
