Chapter 7. Stalemate
Sasha released a long harsh breath. She did not scoff or snort.
Something about him feels serious. But it also felt as if she was being fooled in a way.
‘Parade? What am I? Some sort of a Goddess in the flesh?!’
She knew he was just exaggerating. And yet…this is the kind of serenading words she’s dying to hear ever since she’s a victim of love.
Ansel leaned forward and acted as if he was going to kiss her lightly. Sasha flinched. “You may not believe me about Klea,” he murmured just a few inches from her mouth. “But please believe me about this. I don’t care if I cannot have you wholly, solely…as long as I can have a part of you.” He threw Alain a wry glance. “And I’m glad of it. Even if you only reserve a small part of you for me, even if you believed him more than me…as long as I can have you. As long as, somehow deep in your heart, you try to believe me.” He reached for her hand and placed a gentle kiss on the back of it.
