Chapter 50. Happy Family

We ate amid smiles and playful banter, feeling the peace of being with the family gathered. Later, I left our daughter with Juliano and the godparents, who had already invited themselves for lunch, and went to help my mother-in-law in the kitchen.

"Dona Lu, are you staying overnight?" I asked as I handed her a glass I had just washed.
