Chapter 326. Get Your Shit Together
ASHER
“Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death…”
I recited the prayer over and over, my voice barely above a whisper, as I clutched the rosary tightly. It was wrapped not just around my hand but also around Lee’s, as though anchoring both of us to some semblance of calm amidst the storm of emotions swirling inside me. The memories of our previous life surged back with overwhelming force, vivid and unrelenting.
My chest tightened with anxiety—my heart was racing so fast it felt like it might burst. My entire body trembled uncontrollably, the chill in the air making it worse. The biting cold seeped through my skin, amplifying my unease.
Frustration bubbled up inside me as I thought about the choices I had made back then. Why didn’t I just tell Raoul to shoot the stalker in the leg right away?
