I went through the motions of taking my two exams, but my mind refused to stay still. It kept drifting, wandering to unsettling places. The thought of the stalker—the possibility that it might be Collin—hovered like a dark cloud over every question I read and every answer I tried to write.
During the first exam, I struggled to focus. The ticking clock at the front of the room seemed louder than usual, each second a reminder of how little time I had. My hands felt clammy as I gripped my pencil, trying to recall what I had crammed into my brain the night before. But my mind kept slipping away. I saw Collin’s bandaged shoulder in my thoughts, heard Officer Raoul’s voice mentioning the stalker’s injuries, and replayed the way Collin had brushed past me earlier, his expression unreadable.
