Chapter 11. I Have to Stay Away From Her

Elena POV

Vincenzo pins me to the door and takes my lips in his, kissing me hard and passionately.

The kiss lingers for a moment, hot, raw and passionate before he abruptly steps back. Like he just crossed a boundary.

“Leave now, please” he growls. “Now that I’m still able to control myself.”

“Vincenzo” I call softly but he looks away.

“Please, just go” he begs.

I just nod.

And I leave.

I don’t run.

But I don’t look back either.

Because if I do…

I won’t be able to walk away.

Vincenzo POV

The moment the door clicks shut behind her, I press my palm to it—like maybe I can still feel her warmth lingering there.

Like maybe I can stop myself from chasing after her.

But I don’t.

I ball my fist and slam it once into the wood.

Fuck.

The room feels colder.

Even with the fire still burning behind me, licking the logs in steady hunger, I feel ice in my chest.
