We caught the Concord transport at the northern gorge because Gideon had once complained that I spent too much money repairing that road.

I remembered the drainage cut I had ordered beneath the east slope. Tamsin used it to bring eight fighters around the convoy while Ronan and Lucien blocked the bridge from the front.

"I would like the record to show that infrastructure spending saved the day," I whispered.

Tamsin crouched beside me behind a snow-covered wall.

"I will put it in the official battle report."

"Right after the section where you ignored three instructions and climbed a retaining wall with an injured ankle."
