Chapter 44
Third-Person POV
Agent Jones, Elera, and Jax sat in a nondescript minivan parked a couple of blocks away from the casino. Their eyes remained fixed on the surveillance monitors, their ears attuned to the crackling communication devices that connected them to their undercover operative, Alex.
For hours, they had meticulously monitored the operation, their anxiety growing with each passing moment. But then, a sudden burst of static disrupted the otherwise clear transmission. They strained their ears, hoping to catch a shred of Alex’s voice, but all they heard was an eerie silence.
Agent Jones clenched his fists, his face etched with concern. “What’s going on? We’ve lost contact with Alex,” he exclaimed, frustration and worry creeping into his voice.
