I stood before Talisca, the weight of the prison walls closing in around us. Determination burned in my eyes as I made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
“Talisca, listen to me,” I said, my voice firm and unwavering. “If you provide me with the information I need, if you tell me if Agent Nasir is working for you, I can promise you a reduced sentence. You won’t spend the rest of your life behind these bars.”
Talisca’s laughter filled the air, his amusement reverberating through the cold, desolate room. He leaned back, his shackled hands resting casually on his lap.
“Oh, detective, you’re a clever one, aren’t you?” he taunted. “But you’re asking for something I can’t give you. You see, my time within these walls is limited. I have less than 48 hours before I’m free, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.”
His words sent a chill down my spine, but I refused to let him see my unease. Instead, I mustered a wry smile.
