Chapter 98
As I stepped into the small, cramped cell numbered 12, a wave of desolation washed over me. The stark reality of my new existence settled in, suffocating the remnants of hope that still lingered within my weary soul. The four concrete walls seemed to close in on me, a constant reminder of the eternity that awaited me behind these bars.
My gaze fell upon my new roommate, an inmate by the name of Carlos. He wore a hardened expression, the lines etched deep into his weathered face, bearing witness to the trials and tribulations he had endured. He extended a hand towards me, a gesture of camaraderie and friendship, but I couldn’t bring myself to reciprocate.
Sad thoughts swirled in my mind like a tempest, consuming any glimmer of optimism that dared to surface. The weight of my circumstances pressed upon me, threatening to crush my spirit. How could I possibly forge connections in this forsaken place, where trust was a scarce commodity and survival was paramount?
Carlo
