Chapter 50. Pieces of Puzzles

Lea's POV

As they left, I heard Rosa’s mocking laughter echo down the hallway. The nurses fussed over me, checking my vitals, but their concerned whispers barely registered.

I was left alone, my heart shattered into a million pieces. The room felt cold and empty without Jake, and I hugged myself, trying to hold it together. How could this happen? How could everything fall apart so quickly when it just seemed like everything was falling into pieces? Was he gone forever? My Jake? Lost?

Tears blurred my vision as I thought about the future, the baby, and the man I loved who was now tangled up with another woman. I didn’t know how we were going to fix this, or if it was even possible.

A nurse gently squeezed my hand, her eyes filled with sympathy. “It’ll be alright, dear. Just try to rest.”

Rest. How could I rest when my world was collapsing around me? The truth I had been about to reveal to Jake seemed pointless now.
