Chloe’s POV

The television was on when I stepped into the hospital lobby, and for a second I didn’t even recognize what I was hearing.

“…CEO Drake Humphrey repeatedly calling out for a woman identified as Chloe…” the news reporter said, her voice dramatic and hungry. “Sources inside the emergency unit claim he demanded to see her and referenced an unborn child…”

My entire body went cold.

“…stating that she was pregnant with his child and that she was the love of his life…”

The words echoed in my ears as if someone had screamed them directly into my skull.

Pregnant.

Love of his life.

Demanding Chloe.

My knees nearly gave out beneath me. I grabbed the edge of a nearby chair to steady myself. The secret I had guarded so tightly, the one I had calculated around, protected, hidden from everyone except him and Rica, had just been dragged into the open in front of the entire city.

My phone started vibrating again in my hand
