Chapter 28

As I made my way down the hallway of the hospital toward Isla's room, I heard a sudden commotion coming from around the corner. As I turned the corner, I bumped into someone, sending the tray of food I was carrying tumbling to the ground.

"I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, quickly bending down to pick up the spilled food.

"No worries, let me help you with that," a kind voice said, as a hand reached down to help me.

I looked up to see a tall, handsome man with kind eyes and a warm smile. "Thank you," I said, smiling back at him.

"Are you okay?" he asked, looking concerned.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I was just on my way to see my cousin Isla," I replied.

"Isla? I know her, Jake," the man said, extending his hand.

"Iris," I replied, shaking his hand.

As we stood up, I couldn't help but feel a little flustered by how attractive and charming the doctor was. But I quickly pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand - getting Isla her food.<
