I felt my heart sink as Felix told me that he would be leaving in two weeks to continue his pre-med course in Australia. The news came as a shock to me, even though I knew it was a possibility. 

I couldn't believe that he would be leaving so soon.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at him, trying to hold back my emotions. "Two weeks?" I whispered, barely able to get the words out.

Felix nodded, his own eyes filled with sadness. "I'm sorry, Iris. I wish I could stay, but this is an opportunity that I can't pass up."

"I understand," I said, trying to be strong. "But it's just so sudden. How am I going to handle being away from you for so long?"

"We'll make it work," Felix said, taking my hand in his. "We'll talk every day, and I'll come back to visit whenever I can. And when I finish my course, I'll come back for good."
