Chapter 100. A Promise
"Laird!"
I exclaimed, playfully squeezing his thigh. This time, he burst into laughter. Oh, how relieved I felt to see him laugh again. I joined in the laughter. My fingers then tickled him, and we both giggled on the quite crowded bus.
"Finally, you’re smiling," Laird said with a smile at me.
His hand touched my flushed cheek as his eyes gazed intently at me. A mischievous grin was still on his lips—a smile I had always liked and felt sure I would never tire of seeing. My heart raced. Then I gathered the courage to lean forward this time.
Laird seemed to know what I wanted to do. He closed his eyes and cupped my cheek. His thumb gently caressed my cheek. Slowly, I began to try to breathe normally without holding it in any longer.
Our lips met, and that was all that felt important at that moment.
Shortly after, the bus arrived at my school's bus stop. I squeezed his hand and gathered the courage to kiss Laird'
