Chapter 96

Everything Ezra said, I told Viktor. He advised Isabel to get some rest because she would be on duty at midnight. She was supposed to follow her when she ran away. He gave her some items to mask her odor. Ian wasn't thrilled with the idea, but he realized she'd be faster, quieter, and more invisible by herself. We have yet to see if anyone else becomes invisible in her presence. If only her radius could reach more people. That's something we'd experiment with later.

Viktor stood guard until midnight, then went upstairs to bed.

"Are you certain this is going to work?" he inquired.

"Ezra is, and he hasn't been proven wrong yet," I explained.

"Ezra is four," he explained.

"He has visions or whatever else you want to call them," I explained.

"I suppose you're correct. "A lot is riding on this," he said.

"I don't want to talk about it any longer." "Where has my birthday surprise gone?" I inquired.

"Oh, you remember that, don't you?" He inquired.
