Chapter 23

Nikki

After Chad pulled away from me, I stared at him with a lost expression. There was no way in the world I was seeing things right.

I widened my eyes, closed them and reopened them to his presence. “Why? Why are you here?” I stuttered, trying to process what had just happened between us. I was lost on why he would show up.

“Are you going to let me in?” He ran his fingers through his hair.

I moved aside so I could let him in, although I was still lost from all that was going on. “O...okay?”

I secured the door locked with a click of the key. “Chad, why are you here?” I no longer had reasons to refer to him as Mr. Bush. I knew any other normal person would have freaked out and would care to know why they were kissed all of a sudden and against their will, but I was curious as to why he was here.

“Nikki.” He held me in his arms and shook me a little. “I’m sorry for what I did.” He held me at arm’s length and heaved a sigh as he got lost in my eyes.
