Chapter 22
Riley
Riley shivered in the cold. When Ethan hadn’t answered his door, he’d been devastated. Then, when Ethan texted him that he wasn’t coming home, he felt worried. He returned to the frat party to see if Ethan was there. On the way, he dialed Ethan’s number hoping his catcher would answer his phone. Instead, he heard it ring out among the trees beside the path across campus. When he stumbled in that direction, he found Ethan.
“Hi,” Ethan said with a frown.
So he was still angry, Riley observed.
“Mind if I sit down?” he asked.
“It’s a free country,” Ethan said.
Riley awkwardly sat down on the bench beside him, noticing that Ethan edged away from him slightly. Even when he was angry, Ethan looked so damn delicious. Riley sighed and wondered what he could do to make things right.
“Sorry for kissing her…” he began.
“Why are you sorry?” Ethan asked. “We’re not together.”
