She shifted further back into the truck to avoid being seen, even though they were not that close. The will to cry had disappeared, and in its place was her will to survive.

"Make the dead bodies unrecognizable; we have a gift for Zayne," Axel said again. 

She clutched her chest, her heart racing—how many more seconds did she have before Aaron came running back, reporting that she wasn't in her room anymore?

She turned to her side, seeing a thick black leather bag. She covered herself with it, blending with the darkness, and laid as flat as she could, trying not to make a noise.

She could hear their footsteps and voices before the truck door swung open, and something heavy was thrown in.

Shutting her eyes and hoping, another was thrown in, and this time it landed on her body, knocking her of breath and composure. Still, they didn't notice, for they were already out, bringing in another occupied bag and throwing it right on her again.
