Chapter 121

"Let me get this straight." Derinem reclined on his seat, staring at his son. He had called Zayne alone, and though the atmosphere was relaxed in his workspace, Zayne knew his father was disturbed. "You found a girl in a truck with three dead bodies; she says she lost her memory; then you found it convenient to bring her to the manor?" 

Now that his father said it like that, maybe it did sound a little stupid, but he also knew there were other reasons. 

"I also knew if I kept her in the manor and left for Calabria, she might be dead before I get back." Zayne pinched the bridge of his nose, shutting his eyes, feeling the bandage wrapped around his arm. 

"Then your soldiers need discipline," Derinem tapped the table. "That aside, it's so clear you don't know this girl; she might be lying about the memory loss of a thing." 

"Which I don't think she is." 

"You're letting your emotions speak for you, son," Derinem looked at him close
