Chapter 146

He drove through the manor's gates, his eyes straight at the windscreen; either he didn't feel her glare throughout the ride, or he decided to ignore her.

The second seemed valid.

She tried hard to swallow the anger he had sent people after her, to scare the life out of her, then wiped her tears and gave her that sarcastic smile she hated.

"Guess who didn't make it so far?" like she was a game he played, watching her limit, how far she could stay strong, and coming for her when she was at her breaking point.

She hated that she had cried, that she had folded into herself; she'd have known this was all him. He had his name written all over it.

What did he want from her now?

He parked the car and climbed out of it, going over to her side of the vehicle. Finding out she had pushed it open and was stepping out, he grimaced.

She wondered why until she tried to stand, and her knee gave way immediately, causing her to fall back to sitting in the car.
