Chapter 59
"Greta, you can't let him push me away," she sobbed, moving closer. Her eyes were swollen and red, with dark circles and a little bulge showing how stressed out she was.
Greta said nothing, her eyes on nothing in particular; the girl suffering wasn't what she wanted to watch, but she had to hurt her so maria knew what she had done was wrong.
"Greta, talk to me," Maria sniffed, shedding silent tears she had gotten used to in the last few days since Maya was hospitalized. "Greta?"
The woman slowly turned to let her pupils fall on her, still saying nothing.
Maria sank to the floor, holding onto the woman's legs and placing her head on her knees. "Not you, too; I think I've suffered enough. A little sympathy."
That broke the woman's resolve. She caressed the girl's hair, earning a gasp from her and even more tears as she looked up at her.
