Chapter 41
We were driving somewhere. I knew that we weren’t going to the territory; the way was different. Or maybe we were. Damien was eerily silent, making me nervous. Two hours into the drive and he still hasn’t spoken. And I was too scared to start a conversation.
I looked out of the window, staring blankly at the trees. I sneaked a peak at Damien. His jaw was clenched, and his face showed how angry he was. There was a five-clock beard on his face and his eyes were swollen. As if he hadn’t slept for days together. And maybe he hadn’t.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Damien asked and I was caught off guard by the blankness in his voice.
“Did you sleep?” I asked, ignoring his question.
Damien gave me a dirty look. “Sleep? I’ve been looking for you Hanna.”
Guilt consumed me. “But that’s what you...” I traile
