Chapter 52. Five Minutes

“Mei, Mei, time to go get your hair done,” Mom said shaking me.

“No, I want to sleep,” I groaned.

“Tomorrow’s Saturday, everything has to be ready before tomorrow,” She explained.

“You can make my hair tomorrow,” I whined.

“It’s your wedding do whatever you want,” She said and left my bedroom.

I opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling for a moment and got ready to start the day. I haven’t rested all week, Mom made it her mission to make me look ‘absolutely perfect for the wedding’. Those were her exact words.

Nail appointments, different skin care products, and healthy meals. Making sure I exercised so I wouldn’t gain extra weight and making me avoid meals she thought would make me break out. I was tired, I really wanted a buffet of chocolate and ice cream to keep me energized...

“Miss, it’s time to get ready, the dressmaker is here with your dress and your mom brought the hairstylist for a touch-up on your hair,” the maid informed me.
