Chapter 56. Goodbye, Miss Lin

At 10pm the guests were led out of the tent towards my getaway car, they formed a guard of honor, they stood on both sides of the sidewalk and left the middle for me to walk by.

The tent was almost empty, it was just mom, dad, Min Jun and I left in it.

“Are you sure you do not want to come home with us?” Mom asked. She had been trying to convince me to spend my first night as a married woman in the Lin mansion.

“Ama, I cannot do that, I should spend the first night with my husband,” I said holding her hand.

“I’m not prepared to let you go,” She said and slowly tears rolled down her face.

I had never seen my mom openly cry but here she was sobbing. I wiped her tears while tears rolled down my eyes too.

“Mom don’t cry,” I whispered as I frantically tried to wipe her tears that kept flowing.

“My baby is leaving,” She muttered through her sobs.
