The evening arrived so quickly that Olivia wouldn’t stop fussing about what to serve as I helped her set the table, arranging the cutlery and lighting the candles to create a warm sensation in the atmosphere. The aroma of her cooking filled the air, adding to the cozy ambiance that enveloped the room.

As the doorbell rang, signaling the arrival of our guests, Olivia’s face lit up with excitement. I watched her hurry to open the door, a radiant smile gracing her lips as she embraced Tia and Emily, their laughter filling the room.

Nate followed closely behind, a grin plastered on his face as he greeted us warmly. “It’s been too long, Liv. I heard what happened, and I apologize for not reaching out sooner.” He enveloped her in a hug, a hug that didn’t sit right with me. “I’ve missed these delicious meals of yours,” he exclaimed.

Olivia chuckled, her eyes shining with joy. “Well, you’re in for a treat tonight. Ethan and I have prepared something special.”
