A knock on the door was all it took to pull me out of my thoughts.

Last night, I had given Victoria the cash she had requested, even more than she asked for, because I needed to talk to Liv. She said she’d get back to me today after confirming it was complete.

But you and I both know that would not be the case, so I had tagged the bag with a GPS tracker. It seemed she hadn’t gone back to where she was holding Olivia captive. She had just been gallivanting around town, probably spending the money.

I’d had my PD keep tabs on her and report who she was with, and it turned out she was enjoying the money with Nate. That sick bastard—I wondered if she was done with my brother. Sad.

After seeing her in that state yesterday, I hadn’t been at rest. Was that the best possible position to keep someone who was pregnant? Even if they wanted to keep her, not like that—not in that state and not by dumping cold water on her. She looked pale—she was pale. They wer
