It had been a few weeks after he was discharged from the hospital. He was still in need of recuperation—Collins had warned him never to do anything stressful, but it seemed to go over his head.
“You’re not supposed to be working this hard!” I’d scold him over the phone.
“Tizzone mio… it’s quite needed, but if you need me right now, I’ll come running,” he assured me, a chuckle escaping his lips.
“Just take care of yourself. Don’t do anything that’ll strain you,” I said, concern in my tone like a fitting wife. It felt awkward—one minute I was fighting him and asking for release, and the next, the sudden urge to wrap him in my arms had become almost unbearable.
