Chapter 230
Cassandra showed the park ranger their permits to enter the restricted areas of the Southwest region in the Grand Canyon National Park. The ranger told them that they would the first people to enter this section of the park the way it was intended to be by God: On Horseback. There are no trails to follow. There are no roads. There is no cell phone coverage anywhere in this area. If they got into any trouble, they had to use the emergency beacons he gave them. It may take as long as 24 hours for someone to reach them, unless a helicopter was available. He checked their supplies, especially their water and their water purification tablets. They carried enough rations for one month and there was enough vegetation in the area for their six horses to graze on for the three-week journey into the most pristine area of the park.
