Stephano watched as the green light blinked on, but he remained silent. William Zabo grinned at him, not uttering a word.

"Alpha, she's awake," called out Alan.

"Get over here and take the bat," William ordered.

As Alan retrieved the bat from William, he mentioned, "I might've grazed her rib on that last swing. Doubt it's broken, but I'll aim lower next time."

"Target her ovaries and kidneys, especially. At her age, those'll bring the most pain, especially when her cycles come around. Just be sure not to kill her—at least not until we get some answers out of her," William instructed.

Within seconds of Alan rejoining the fray, Patricia screamed once more, followed by coughing as if she were retching.

Stephano remained fixated on the blinking green light, seemingly entranced by it.
