I heard the loud shriek of pain and ran to my window to see if someone was hurt. April had ducked out of my room to find out who it was when I didn't see anyone.

"It's Emery, one of the King's soldiers," she informed both me and Jess upon her return. "The servants said he was mauled by the Luna just before she shifted and escaped to safety."

It's not our mate. It's not Rhys, my silly wolf spun around in relief. 

I was relieved too for the same reason that she was, to be honest. I hated the man but it didn't mean I wanted him dead. Besides, if anyone had the right to kill him, it was me.

"How is Emery? Can I go to see him?"
