I heard a loud shriek of pain and ran to my window to see if someone was hurt. April had ducked out of my room to find out who it was when I didn't see anyone.

“It's Emery, one of the King's soldiers,” she informed both Jess and me upon her return. “The servants said he was mauled by the Luna just before she shifted and escaped to safety.”
