I felt frustrated. Sitting on the bed in the room, I tried not to look at my breasts while using the automatic breast pump to express milk.

“Why does it still hurt so much?” I complained to myself, quietly, adjusting the pump better when I felt more discomfort. “Damn!” I couldn’t continue and had to turn it off.

My skin there kept burning incessantly, almost like it was on fire.

“I’m pathetic…” I muttered to myself.

I could simply give up, let my babies be fed only with formula; I knew everything would be fine even with me, but my heart wouldn’t let me. I still felt like I needed to give them my own milk to keep them healthy and well.

And even though I knew that thought wasn’t exactly correct, I couldn’t change it.
