Lorenzo's POV
After speaking to Leila yesterday, I felt a sense of relief. My tense shoulders rippled with relief but a sour feeling laid underneath it. Why? Because she asked me if I was going to marry her and I evaded the question, I knew she noticed it because she is a smart girl, my smart little thing.
How would I explain to her that I was scared of marriage? That the last girl I loved and was ready to stay committed to died in a ghastly motor accident after I angered her and made her storm out of my house angrily while I was planning to marry her. How do I explain to her that my parents' marriage that I had looked up to all my life ended in divorce, sadly. I wanted her to be mine but not under the label of marriage. It didn't make sense, but that's what I wanted.
