Chapter 85
My body was still aching, and I was still exhausted. It was then I realized that something had woken me. There was an uncomfortable pressure on my side that made me shift slightly. That was when I realized that I wasn’t alone in the bed.
The familiar scent of peppermint and cedar made me realize who it was.
Knox.
I forced my eyes open, and there he was. Even though the room was dark, I could recognize him. He was squeezed beside me on the tiny hospital bed. His large frame didn't fit on the bed, yet he was wrapped around me protectively, his arm was wrapped around my waist, and his head was resting close to mine.
He was obviously uncomfortable, but he was deeply asleep, like none of the discomfort mattered. Like being crammed into this tiny space was better than being away from me.
My heart clenched. How long had he been here? How long had I been asleep?
