“Your shoulders are rigid, your jaw is tight, and you’ve been chewing your bottom lip since we left the gala.” He stepped closer. “You’re not tired. You’re overthinking.”
“I’m not overthinking,” I insisted, taking a step back to create some distance between us. “I’m genuinely tired, Alexander. Between the Manhattan project deadlines, the gala, and everything else, I just need a good night’s sleep.”
