Madison
I ducked into the fitting room, grateful for a moment alone to catch my breath. The midnight blue dress hung elegantly on its hanger, taunting me.
I emerged a few minutes later, tugging at the hem. “I think it’s too short.”
His eyes traveled slowly up my legs. “It’s perfect.”
“But—”
“Try the next one.”
I grabbed a conservative black dress with long sleeves and a high neckline.
His expression darkened when I showed him. “No.”
“What’s wrong with it?”
“You look like you’re going to a funeral.” He shook his head. “Next.”
The emerald green wrap dress seemed safe enough. Until I realized how deeply the neckline had plunged.
“Mr. Knight!” I crossed my arms over my chest. “This is completely inappropriate for work.”
“Who said anything about work?” His lips curved into that infuriating smirk. “But you’re right—that shade doesn’t suit you.”
I let out a huff of frustration as I returned to the fitting
