Chapter 18. Staying by Him

"Nicolette?" He called me out, his voice was raspy.

"Hey, you." I kissed his lips and brushed his hair with my fingers. "I've missed you, I'm so sorry about before. Please forgive me?". He wiped my tears away and smiled.

"If I'd known that you will be back, I would do something drastic sooner." I slapped his arm playfully.

"I love you Nicolette and I've missed you too." I blushed as I remembered his parents were behind me.

His father coughed. "Right then, we're going to leave you two kids alone for now. I'm going to take your mother back home to get some rest. Will be back later this evening."

I moved to his other side, giving the space for his parents, to say their goodbyes. "We love you, Brenton, please don't push us out." His mom scolded his hair lovingly and kissed his temple.

"Mum...not in front of Nikki please, I'm keeping my bad boy image here." He tried to laugh, but he gripped his abdomen and took a deep breath.
