She was asleep when I decided to call Larry and asked about the outcome of the afternoon meeting that I missed. The discussion ended half an hour later with him telling me briefly that I had nothing to worry about.

"Look, I really have to go, Ty, we will discuss this in the next couple of days."

"Tomorrow, I'll..."

"No, stay with Jessica, take a day off or two. I got this brother. I'll call you if there are any emergencies."

"Are you sure?"

"Tyler, I'm sure. Just take care of her."

I ended the call minutes later and my mind was back to the chat that I had with the ER doctor who was following up on her condition and bringing up the issue about her previous injuries.

I was on my second glass of whiskey when my mind kept getting back to her bruises. I still couldn't believe when the doctor showed me her files, I was sure to kill her brother if he's not dead already. That fact was shared by my oldest brother
