The next day she prepared her ritual to contact her elders. I joined her and Rain in my chamber just moments before she started.

"Rain, I need you to be here just in case Maven is wrong. Promised me that you'll get him out of the way, I will be fine..."

I was about to object when I decided to back down and let her give further instructions to Rain.
