Chapter 15. The Patient

My body ached, my chest hurt, my arm was making me groan.

"Rain, thank fuck...I almost lost my mind. I almost lost my best demon sorcerer. You will have my guards from now on, you will never have to be in danger."

He lowered himself down to kiss me, and I flinched when my wounded arm instinctively tried to reach for him.

"Shit okay, I'm sorry. Just sit back and here drink this, oh, and eat this..." he looked panicked enough that he finally made me laugh. But he was looking at me like I was crazy.

"What? I'm okay. It's all superficial wounds. I'll probably be good in a couple of hours, it's all Maven's handy works right?" I asked looking at the ointments on my chest and arm.
